Hi, y’all! My name is Mollie Mason and I’m a whole lot of things but I think “health nut with a chocolate addiction and an incessant dimpled smile” pretty much sums it up.
I struggled for years with various chronic health symptoms that doctors continually misdiagnosed, and I was constantly left with little more than “we can’t explain it, take this medication.” My sophomore year of college (when my daily migraines become unmanageable and a doc told me to lay in a dark room with a cool damp towel on my head) I finally took my health into my own hands. I fumbled around on the internet, decided to give a gluten-free diet a whirl, and within days, my migraines went away. A fitness junkie who had always bought into the lie of simply burning off the food I ate, I immediately realized the power of diet on our health and switched my major to nutrition.
Since then, it’s been a long and winding journey of studying nutritional biochemistry, digging into my symptoms, learning how different foods and factors impact health, and navigating through an unhealthy relationship with food, which at times has been both my poison and my medicine.
Over the years, I’ve learned food is power and our bodies are resilient. I’ve learned vegetables are medicine and chocolate is soul food. I’ve learned gut health is whole health and coconut milk is life. But, most importantly, I’ve learned my body is a reflection of my heart and I’ve found a place of freedom from the chains of shame and guilt that used to bind me.
So I’m here to share that with you. To be real and raw with both my successes and my struggles. To share yummy recipes and practical tips, always with encouragement (and a small side of nerdy nutrition science). And to equip you with the knowledge to love your body well and empower you to fight for balanced health in all forms – mind, body, heart and soul.
